We want to let you know that we are expanding – with a new HUB opening soon in Kilwinning!
We are however looking for some help from any local businesses/organisations that may be able to contribute towards some items or even lend a hand by offering some time. Any help would be appreciated and further information is detailed below.
Mini Scale DIY SOS / NAWA Phase 2
North Ayrshire Women’s Aid has been operational within North Ayrshire for over 40 years, providing direct support to women and children experiencing domestic abuse. In August 2020, we successfully opened our new Hub in Vernon Street Saltcoats called: ‘Hub on the Corner’ – despite the pressures of our continuing lockdown. Within this building we are able to house all of our previous Public Office and have space to offer many more services to women and families when restrictions ease.
Lockdown presented us with an unprecedented increase in the requirement of our services – of which we adapted in order to respond safely and provide the continuation of service for those in need.Women and families found the increased pressures and restrictions unbearable – leaving them more isolated & vulnerable than ever.
It was always NAWA’s plan to open a second HUB in Kilwinning in order to make our services more readily available for women. Lockdown has shown us that this is now needed more than ever.
The overall purpose is to assist in providing support not only for domestic abuse but also housing, financial support, health awareness, and wellbeing amongst other services, under one roof. We are reaching out to local companies for assistance where possible be it materials or even an hour spared to help out or even just some knowledge to pass on.
We are starting from scratch and on a very tight budget so we are appealing to local businesses who may wish to support us in the furnishing of items such as:
- Building materials
- Fittings for bathrooms
- Plumbing/sanitary items (taps/fittings)
- Flooring – and/or other materials
- Electric radiators
We are not asking for major donations, but working on the principle that every little helps. Items do not need to be shop floor new/bespoke but maybe ex showroom or with slight imperfection. (We cannot accept previously used items due to safety issues)
Needless to say, we would be very grateful and would widely publicise any donation received. Interested? Please contact: email@example.com
