Local lawyer, Tony Bone, agreed to be interviewed by NAWA as part of the 16 Days of Action campaign to end violence against women and girls. These short videos provide a male perspective on domestic abuse and gender based violence as well as the perspective of a legal representative who works with women experiencing domestic abuse. We would like to extend a huge thank you to Tony Bone for taking the time sit with us and discuss this sensitive but pertinent issue.
North Ayrshire Women’s Aid and Fife Women’s Aid commissioned research into the experiences of women living in rural areas who are going through domestic abuse.
This is the first piece of research of it’s kind in Scotland. The report also focussed on the impact of Covid-19 on these same women. The full report can be accessed below. A summary of the report is also attached.

It’s day 14 and our TikTok for the day is about how domestic abuse is represented in film and TV. Whilst this type of media aims to raise awareness of the issue, it is important to be respectful of survivor’s when portraying DA and sexual assault on screen.
